Why not come to the Carers’ Forum
In November 2011, with the help from two Appletree receptionist ‘Care Champions’, a coffee morning was initiated to bring together some of the 70 ‘carers ’ registered with the practice (those with full time responsibility, usually a relative, who needs looking after at home or in residential care) for friendship, support and information. We have had about a dozen sessions.
Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA), with the help of members of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) ‘Friends of Carers’ run a bi-monthly session at Appletree Medical practice, where coffee/tea and biscuits are served. The aim is to befriend the carers, listen to their concerns and wherever possible to find speakers to answer their queries and for them to haveinput into the system. So far we have had speakers from Derbyshire Carers’ Association and Social Services, one speaking about ‘Care Allowances’ and one about ‘Assessment Criteria’. Other speakers are planned for the future.
If you are a registered ‘carer’ you will be made very welcome at our bi-monthly forums, which are held on a Wednesday at the Surgery. (If you have not yet registered as a carer with the surgery, please complete the online form). Come on your own or bring the ‘cared for’ person with you. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served. The next forum is on:
3rd October 2018 – 1.00 – 2.30pm
